Composer Residencies at the University of Michigan and Duke University

This fall Matthew Burtner will be Composer in Residence at the University of Michigan and Duke University. As part of the residencies he will perform a recital in Ann Arbor on 11/22/14 featuring music of his graduate students. He will also present a new talk called “1994-2014: 20 Years of Computer Noise in Retrospect” in which he uncovers a path from his early computer music work at Xenakis’ UPIC studios in Paris to his current research into computational ecoacoustics with EcoSono. At Duke the talk will take place in the Department of Music at 4pm on 10/3/14.

I am honored to be a guest of the Performing Arts Technology (PAT) Program at UM, and the Music Department at Duke and I look forward to seeing some old friends and meeting new ones.
