EcoSono Ensemble multimedia performance

The performance includes a program of engaging environmental music featuring a mixed ensemble of virtuosic musicians and multimedia ecoacoustics. EcoSono Ensemble is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Time Lapse Dance Melting Ice/Changing Winds dance/music program

Time Lapse Dance will perform a full length concert of works by Burtner/Sperling, from their repertoire of "Ice Cycle", "Wind Rose", "American Elm", "Plastic Harvest" and "Piece for Northern Sky".

"Transient Landscapes," performed life-sized glacier sound cast

"Transient Landscapes" was created by Matthew Burtner and Matthew Duvall (founder and Co-Director of Eighth Blackbird). This glacier orchestra creates a fully immersive and interactive performance sound artwork for glacier ecoacoustics, percussionists, three groups of performers, audience participation, and multichannel surround sound. The work is intended for outdoor performance and can include dozens or up to hundreds of performers. Burtner and Duvall typically work in residence with schools and festivals to produce the piece with engaged participants. "Auksalaq" climate change opera

"Auksalaq" by Matthew Burtner and Scott Deal received the IDEA Award following it's premiere on the evening Hurricane Sandy made landfall in New York. Since its auspicious beginnings the opera has become a landmark of multimedia opera, using climate change data and featuring innovative telematic software to address themes of global warming. The opera is performed by a chamber ensemble, live video by Scott Deal, and electronics by Matthew Burtner.
